Join Team Ian - A Group of Extraordinary People Coming Together to Help One Special Autistic Boy!
We are excited at the prospect of welcoming you as part of our team. Working with Ian through his Son-Rise Therapy Program has helped him with his social and communication delays and brought him closer to us. It has also transformed our lives as well and taught us so many wonderful things like patience, understanding and how to live in the moment, among others.

Qualifications
The best candidate in our view is not necessarily a person with extensive experience working with children. You do not need to have any previous background working with those with special needs. But you do need to be highly motivated and outgoing. We are looking for dynamic people, men and women over the age of 18 who are truly passionate about life and the prospect of touching Ian's life, as well as enhancing their own through this experience. You also need to be willing to jump, run, play and be silly and creative. We also expect the "three e's," which stand for energy, excitement, and enthusiasm! You also need to be truly open-minded and non-judgmental so that Ian can be with people who accept him as he is and respect his limitations and needs. This is crucial to fostering his ability to connect, learn and grow.

Flexible, Part-Time Schedules/Ongoing need
Whether you are interested in a paid position, volunteer position or internship we offer part-time flexible hours. This is great for students as we can work around their schedules. This is also ideal for those who work full-time because we have some evening and weekend hours available. Hours range from 4-10 hours per week. We are also continually looking for people to add to his program, so if you are interested but not able to apply now, check back in the next weeks and months as we may still have openings come available.

Training
No previous experience working with special needs children is required because we will provide continual training for your success in Ian's program. Through the use of observation and feedback sessions you will learn the basics of the Son-Rise Therapy program. We will work one-on-one with you to insure you have all the information and tools you need to be successful. For your part, you will need to be open to learning and move on the feedback given. Additionally, we hold Team Ian group meetings twice a month. This is a chance for the whole team to gather together to share what is going on with Ian, track his progress, share special moments, brainstorm solutions for some of Ian's challenges and celebrate our work as a team.

Paid Positions
Ian receives long term care funds through the state of Arizona at this time, so we are able to offer a few paid positions. Anyone filling a paid position must meet state of Arizona requirements and be 18 years of age or older, have a finger print clearance check and attend a one-day, free training workshop (we set this up for you). The workshop covers some of the state laws and requirements for working with those with special needs and you will also learn and become certified in CPR and first-aid if you are not already certified.

Volunteer Positions
We are continually on the look out for great new volunteers to join Team Ian. We have had a wonderful variety of men and women work with Ian since the start of his program in August of 2005. We've had working professionals, a stay-at-home mom, high school students, college students, and grandparents work with Ian. None of them came to Ian's program with a background in special needs therapy or even much experience with children. What they did come with though and what we find most important in a volunteer is openness, warmth, acceptance, passion and a willingness to learn. Our volunteers each give a minimum of 4 hours per week to working with Ian (this consists of two, 2-hour sessions a week). Along the way they receive training and feedback in the Son-Rise approach from Ian's parents.

Internships
We are currently working with a few schools and departments at Arizona State University to set up internships, namely the School of Social and Family Dynamics and the College of Liberal Arts. These internships will be volunteer positions, but will allow the student to earn credit hours toward their degree program. The time commitment required will range from 4-10 hours per week. Please email us if you are interested or would like to talk further about a possible internship. Also, if you are from a different school or college, we may be able to work with a faculty advisor from that school or college to set up an internship for you.

How to Apply
Please use the Team Ian Job Application form on this website to apply for any of the above positions. Please include as much detail about yourself as possible.
