Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first 3 years of life. It can result in challenges in language, communication, emotion, cognition, behavior, fine and gross motor skills and social interaction. One in 150 children are being diagnosed with autism today which is an explosive increase over recent years. It has now become the fastest growing developmental disability.
Ian has been diagnosed as moderate on the autism spectrum. He has communication and speech delays, as well as delays in social skills and interaction. His fine and gross motor abilities are about on par for a child his age.
